Be True

Your young Spring breeze billowed your new white sails
With hope of what lay across the blue deep
Seas; the grey gulls goaded your dreams with hails
Of happiness which caused your heart to leap.
The Summer brought you rougher seas to forge,
Upon the helm you stood your ground to show
The crew, and all of Nature, who had charge
Of lives and dreams and who was in the know.
In defiant Fall one salt jumped ship, two
Lost their lives at sea; a sailor fell ill,
And still on shaky feet.  You, Captain, who
This ship sailed hence have changed your stubborn will.
Though far from home, your harbor is the blue
A haven for the crew.  Be true, be true.
