I woke up in the morning
Hairy fingers shaking my toe
I peered over the bed's edge
A monkey said, "she's about to blow"
I looked around, she was gone
I wondered what did he know
Could he tell me which way she went,
Tell me which way to go
Jumping up too quickly,
On the bunk I hit my head
And lay there in unconsciousness
Wishing she'd come back to bed
The bed began to rock and roll
Like a ship tossed at sea
I rubbed my head, found the bump,
And wondered, could this be?
The floor was flooded with water
This I could plainly see
But did the bump cause this dream
Or was this reality
I dug deep in my memory
For the last words that she said
Was she going to go somewhere?
I wish she'd come back to bed
A voice came over the load speaker
"Please return to your seat
We've hit a little turbulence
So we're throwing out the cheat
On your way grab some pie,
It really can't be beat
But please heed the signs that say
In your bed don't eat"
As the sun was setting
I noticed the sky was turning red
And hoped before we landed
That she'd come back to bed
A Sherpa placed me properly
Between the shoulders on his back
But we missed our turn
Because he was looking back
“Where are you going?”
I cried, then gave him a smack
“You think this is easy?” he asked
“Do you want to give it a crack?”
Tongue-tied and frozen-eyed
In the negative I shook my head
Wishing with all my heart
That she'd come back to bed
A crazy loon's wings beat
Rapidly against my cheeks
"Wake up, wake up, wake up," she warbled
"You've been asleep for weeks
You're it,” said she with duckly glee
"Close your eyes, don’t peak"
Then to my astonished relief
My girl was next to speak
"Why're you walking arms straight out
Just where are you being led
Stop making all that noise
I wish you'd come back to bed"
