Don't Insist On Meaning

East winds blow, the love of many grows cold
Cautious parents bind up children for the night
Blame’s refrain: “In with the new, out with the old”
Pretends not to see the decaying city’s blight
Beauty queen struts acquitted streets with a gun
Don’t insist on meaning where there is none

Genghis hordes bathe hometowns in violence
A 100-year flood of blood soaks decrepit streets
Mice flee the conquering cat in squeaking silence
Avoiding the fall of the green giant’s false feet
Blushing bride wears a suicide vest in the sun
Don’t insist on meaning where there is none

Blind luminaries see only what they want to see
Deaf counselors hear only what’s in their head
Every word means just what they want it to be
Coronation groupies laud when all are misled
Trumpets call wrong right, think it's lots of fun
Don’t insist on meaning where there is none
