I've Heard the Story

I’ve heard the story and I know it’s true
You’ve lost some teeth and now you’re blue…
And black, and crimson, you show those hues
And before extraction you were a little yellow too.

Now you’ve experienced some true pain
And upon retrospect you’re not sure you’re quite sane
To let someone make you feel you were just hit by a train
Is not what normal people do who have a normal brain

But the body is truly a miraculous thing
And before you know it you’ll have strength in those wings
To fly about, to flit and to sing
To hurry along, full speed into spring.

And those teeth I know you’ll never miss
And very soon we will be able to kiss
And things will be normal, the normal bliss
And if I didn’t add “I love you” I would be remiss.
