Heavy Rain Falls

Heavy rain falls on the beguiling road,
Gloom ravages the safety of the car,
Phantasms dance an enigmatic code
Rousing notions once thought a bridge too far.
A familiar voice, in the past dismissed,
Inciting me on to self-destruction,
It’s sophistic logic hard to resist,
Like the siren's song's gentle seduction.
As if set in cinematic suspense,
"There's a killer on the road..." plays loudly.
Is it certain this time or just pretense,
As I scout bridge abutment and stout tree
In an unknowing search for an answer
To a tumor growing like a cancer?
