When I heard the news of her tragedy
My knees buckled under the heavy blow;
Strength failed pondering the calamity
I couldn't lift myself to rise and go.
The immensity of her too soon grief,
A burden too large for her to carry;
Her hopeless soul-wrenching cry for relief,
Pain so large no heart has room to bury.
And she is just one of millions of score
Who daily suffer life's careless nature;
I wish I could feel for them all and more,
But by and large to their cries I inure.
This attribute is for my protection,
I'd be crushed by the weight of compassion.
