There is a Ghost in My House

There is a ghost in my house but it’s not what you think
There is no whining and moaning or chains that go clink.

This ghost does not instill fear or chase our family away
Quite the contrary, her presence makes us want to stay

I did say “her”, because I think it’s a “she”
The way she shows she’s been here has definitely convinced me.

I will tell you just what I’ve seen
And I think that you will agree.

One day I awoke and as I dressed for work
I noticed I was putting on my last undershirt.

After going to the bathroom and washing my hands,
I scraped the last bit of lotion out of the can.

At breakfast I chose the frosted mini wheat
Then poured into my bowl the last of the tasty treat.

Into the garbage went the bag as I hurried out the door
Barely avoiding the toys that were lying on the floor.

Upon returning from work and coming through the door
I didn’t need to watch my step on that spotless floor.

And in the pantry when I looked for a meal
Was a full bag of mini wheats, what a deal!

Then coming out of the bathroom and washing my hands
Reaching for the lotion I noticed it was a full can!

I couldn’t believe it, so I hurried to my drawer
Full of clothes, she had surprised me once more.

Going to bed I couldn’t help but dream of my sprite
The sweetest, happiest dreams filled my night.

I love my little ghost, she’s the love of my life
I just hope that I can keep her a secret from my wife.
