I’m not on my deathbed yet,
Nor am I gray around the ears
My 30th year I haven’t even met
And I still look young for my years.
Yet eternity doth play on my mind
And teases me with celestial serenity;
So I have made my peace with dyin’
And no longer dread that destiny.
But eternity will be much too long
If I must spend that time alone
And I will be lost in the angelic throng
If I kneel solitary before the King’s throne.
So kneel beside me and stay by my side
And together we’ll enjoy the eternal ride.
February 1993
Technically not a sonnet because of the meter
