Music fills the vast emptiness that lies
Within my hollow chest, and gives me heart
To live each day in this world that denies
Me peace, and would defeat me from the start.
Music satisfies urgent longings of
My soul to know that I am understood;
It touches me, elevates me above
The base, restores my faith that there is good.
Music is more than notes marked on paper,
‘Tis more than mere vibrations in the air,
It penetrates my ear and yet deeper
It sings, awakening my muses fair.
Music is communion to my tired soul
Restoring feuding parts, making me whole.
