The Weaker Sex

“The weaker sex,” we’re inclined to call her
For physically she cannot compete;
In hand-to-hand his victory is sure,
By brute force his domination complete.
But strength has forms other than muscular
And sweet victory can arise from these;
Put to proper use, he will surrender,
Going to unthinkable lengths to please.
Herod learned this lesson from Salome
As she danced, flaunting unwonted beauty;
Esther’s beauty she used in subtler way,
Delivering Haman to obloquy.
Beauty’s her competitive advantage
Making him much easier to manage.
